I am so proud of Grace Academy Coventry’s girls’ football team – we won the Coventry, Solihull and Warwickshire school games! After beating three schools to get into the semi-finals of the competition, our team worked hard to win a spot in the final of the tournament and go on to win GOLD.
Our semi-final against Stratford High School was challenging. We went down to penalties which put me under pressure as our team’s goalkeeper, but I managed to save the ball which made me feel amazing! My save and goal put us through to the final, which gave me such an adrenaline rush.
Winning the final was a real team effort. We could see other teams arguing with each other, but if one of our team members did something wrong, we would correct them in a polite way which meant we could all work together to win the game.
The thrill of winning the whole tournament, the pride of wearing the gold medal, makes me feel incredible. I really want to thank Ms Whillock and Ms Donaghey for giving us this opportunity to be successful!
