Overview

The Edexcel BTEC in Health and Social Care aims to engage students in the processes of health and social care to help aid their development as effective and independent students.

Students will understand aspects of personal development, and the health, social care and early years sectors, through investigation and evaluation of a range of services and organisations. They will develop a critical and analytical approach to problem solving within the health, social care and early years sectors and examine issues which affect the nature and quality of human life, including an appreciation of diversity and cultural issues.

Health and Social Care is one of the largest employment sectors in the UK and job opportunities are great. This course will give you an understanding of how Health and Social Care services work. You will learn about the care needs of a wide range of people of all ages and from all backgrounds and will be able to put your new skills into practice during a work placement.

Unit 1 is taught in year 10 and revised for examination in year 11.  Unit 2 builds on the knowledge and understanding of Unit 1 and is assessed by controlled assessment
