Partial Closure Years 9 & 10

Dear Parent/Carer,

Re: Partial closure

I am writing to inform you that I have taken the decision to partially close the Academy from tomorrow morning, Thursday 19th March 2020.  Years 9 and 10 will NOT be required to attend school, however all other year groups are expected to attend as normal.

As you can appreciate this has not been an easy decision, however we need to ensure the health and safety of all students which also means making sure that we have the correct staff to student ratios in the building.  I want to reassure parents that the Academy is still coronavirus free, with no cases recorded amongst our staff or student body. We are experiencing increasing numbers of staff having to self-isolate for 7 or 14 days, mostly due to family members with symptoms and cannot cover all the lessons.

During this period, Years 9 and 10 teachers will begin to provide access to learning resources online. If you follow the link on our Academy website students will be directed to learning tasks to be completed at home. If you have informed us that your child is unable to access the internet at home your child will have received a learning pack today to take home.

Those students who are entitled to a free school meal will be able to collect a take away lunch from the Academy between 12.00 and 1.00 pm daily for as long as the Academy remains open.

If you do not require this provision for your child please let the Academy know so we can plan accordingly. Alternatively if you wish to discuss this further please contact the Academy reception.

If you work for the NHS, Fire Service or Police and childcare issues mean that you cannot get into work please also make contact with me by email and we will try to support you in this.

We will continue to keep parents informed via text, website and email, if you have provided an up to date email address. As you can appreciate things can change very quickly in the current climate. I will be reviewing the situation each evening and as such can all parents be aware you may receive information the evening before a closure.  I will endeavour to give as much notice as possible however this may not always be possible. I would advise parents to regularly visit our website also.

Thank you for your continued support,

Ms Taylor
