7th April 2020

Dear parents/carers,

I hope this letter finds you and your family safe and well. Thank you for all your continued support during this period of uncertainty. I want to keep you all updated of things taking place in the Academy. Prior to the national lockdown several events took place in the Academy:

  • Tech/Art Club Tuesdays 3-4pm
  • Maths Club Mondays 3-4pm
  • Grace Parent Forum
  • Students having Hot Chocolate with the Principal
  • GCSE Theatre Trip
  • Ethos Interventions

Since the 23rd March, the following has taken place:

  • Students have been engaging with online learning materials
  • Sixth Form has been receiving a weekly newsletter
  • There has been a virtual Options Evening and Year 10 and 12 Progress Evening where we received over 300 views of the online materials

For the Easter period 10th April to 26th April your child should continue to complete work set by their teachers. During this time teachers will not be available to respond online in the Google classrooms or via email. If you have any safeguarding concerns during this time please follow the safeguarding instructions on our website. In addition, we have set up an ‘Ethos’ Google Classroom where we are uploading Ethos sessions, blogs and YouTube content to support our students.

This is to support them whilst they are working at home and processing the events which are taking place. The class code for students to gain access to the Ethos classroom is: a477a26 and the link is: https://classroom.google.com/c/NzM0MTE5MzgwMjNa

I am also pleased to share with you that six new members of staff will be joining the Grace family after half term: Caroline Solomons – Teacher of MFL and Head of Year, Lorraine Webley – Teacher of Business Studies & ICT, Michelle Coleman – Attendance Officer, Craig Lawrence – Behaviour and Learning Manager and Linda Ellis and Michael Cumpstey – Assistant Heads of Year.

The start of term commences on Monday 27th April and the following expectations below will still be in place.

  1. All students should follow their usual timetable. Year timetables are on the website to support the organisation of this time at home.
  2. Students should log into their lessons according to this timetable.
  3. Staff will be available in the Google classrooms to offer support during lesson time and respond to student queries.
  4. Materials during this time will focus on independent work, self and peer marking.
  5. Staff will be available for communication via email from parents within the hours of 8.30am and 3.00pm.  Please be aware that staff will be working in the Google classrooms and may not be able to respond to your email queries immediately.
