Year 10 & 12 Partial Re-opening

Dear Parents/Carers,

I hope this letter finds you and your family well.

As you will probably be aware, earlier this week the government published guidance about schools planning to welcome more students back, starting with Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, and then Year 10 and Year 12.

The guidance for this to begin is as soon as it is safe, but this is only if certain conditions are met (e.g. concerning health data and the current “R” value). The government will be reviewing the data and will also be issuing schools with further guidance.

At this time, we are working very hard, with TOVE Learning Trust and the Local Authority, to plan how we might be able to follow this guidance to welcome back more children, whilst ensuring safety is the top priority.

We appreciate you will have lots of questions and concerns.  We are working on this as quickly as we can to put the best possible plans in place and to provide you with the information you need.  Please can we ask you to be patient with us until we can give you more information.

Our first priority as an Academy is the safety and wellbeing of all staff and students on site.  Over the last few weeks, we have been planning for the return of students and making adjustments in order to have clear social distancing in place for all.  We will be continuing to refine these to make our site as safe as possible.  Before the partial re-opening of the Academy these adjustments will be shared with all parents/carers and students.

In order to support our planning we need some information from you indicating the likelihood of you sending your child to school when the Academy reopens.  Whilst we know your response can only be based on limited information, it will be a really helpful first step for us with our planning.

Can you please complete the following google questionnaire by 12 noon Monday 25/05/2020.

This response will act as an initial indicator. Following the release of further government guidance for secondary schools later this month we will be able to provide, you with more detail and you will have the opportunity to submit an update regarding whether or not your child will be returning to the Academy.

I would like to encourage all students in Years 10 and 12 to return to the Academy.  Our staff are eager to continue to work with students and to support them in catching up with the missed face-to-face learning over the last few weeks.

If in the meantime you have any questions or queries please email the HOY 10, Mr Scott Hamilton or ALT responsible for 6th Form, Mr Simon Goodwin

Thank you so much for your continued support and understanding, it is very much appreciated.

Yours faithfully

Ms Janina Taylor
