Further to my previous letter I am now able to provide you with more specific details for when your child returns to the Academy in September. Students will receive a full induction to re-familiarise themselves with the new layout and expectations of the Academy, along with 1:1 sessions with teachers as we realise some of our students have not attended the Academy since March.
The staggered start is detailed below:
2/9/2020 – Year 7 will attend for a full day transition/induction day and then continue full time every day (8:30am until 3:00pm)
2/9/2020 – Year 12 and 13 to attend from 12:30pm – 3:00pm
3/9/2020 – Year 9 and 11 will attend from 9.30am – 12:00pm 3/9/2020 – Year 8 and 10 will attend from 12.30pm – 3.00pm
4/9/2020 – All year groups will attend school from 8:30am until 3:00pm
Although we understand this may cause some inconvenience we want to ensure that your child has the best start to the academic year which involves having some time to induct them into the organisation of the Academy and to have some pastoral time. We will continue to follow guidance from the government when announcements are shared. If there are any further updates from the government which impacts the Academy we will inform you via letter, email and the Academy website. Attached is an information sheet specific for your child’s year group which provides further detailed information.
Please can I remind you that from 2nd September students are required to attend school in full uniform including blazers, ties, black trousers, black skirt for girls (below the knee), black socks and shoes.
On Monday 7th September we will be having photographers in to take school photos. Please can you ensure that your child is smartly dressed in full Academy uniform.
General Information regarding the site:
- There is a full Risk Assessment in place which has been shared with the Trust and Local Authority
- Students will have access to increased handwashing facilities during the day
- The site will have an enhanced cleaning rota particularly for touch points and toilets
In addition, we will be limiting the equipment we will be letting students borrow to help minimise potential infection. Please can you ensure that your child brings a pencil case with a pen, pencil, ruler and rubber with them each day.

In September we will be distributing letters via email and copies can be accessed on the Academy website. To ensure we have the most up to date email address, please email firstname.lastname@example.org stating your child’s name and preferred email address.
We will be changing the location of student’s lockers to coincide with the year groups located around the Academy. In order for us to deep clean the lockers and implement the new system, please can you ensure that your child comes on site during the summer to clear out their lockers and hand back their key. Lockers will be reallocated during the new term.
Your child can attend site on the following weeks below:
- Current Year 7 – W/C Monday 24th August 2020
- Year 8 – W/C Monday 17th August 2020
- Current Years 9 & 10 – W/C Monday 10th August 2020
Any lockers that are not cleared of personal items by 31.8.2020 will be emptied and any belongings will be taken to lost property.
Have a nice summer, we can’t wait to welcome you all back.
