Academy Assessments

Dear Parents/Carers,

In these unusual times, as an Academy we still believe it is important to assess our students at specific intervals and feedback to both the student and to you. This is to see what their needs are and how we can best help them learn and achieve. Particularly with the loss in face-to-face learning during the last academic year, this assessment is more important than ever in supporting our students’ progression. Our assessment calendar has been structured to ensure that we are not assessing students until they are back into full time learning and are completely settled.

To ensure this progression as happening, we make use of formative and summative assessments. The summative assessments form part of the report you will receive. Summative assessments can take many forms but tend to be in the form of an exam paper or an exam style question.

Therefore, to ensure your son/daughter is best prepared for these summative assessments, please see below for our assessment calendar:

Year 12 Mocks

  13/07/21 20/07/21

* Year 7 CATs tests are sent off and marked externally

For Year 11 and 13, we have specific weeks where they will be assessed because these mock exams take place in the sports hall and are therefore timetabled. Year 13 also have a mock window starting on the 11th January, whereas Year 11 do not – their working at grades will be taken at this point but not through a mock examination.

Years 7-10 and 12 have three data collection points. This is the date when their assessment results are entered into our Go4Schools system. The summative assessment sat for these three data collection points is different for each department. Our whole school policy is that we give our staff two weeks to mark and feedback, therefore the assessment will be sat at least 2 weeks prior to the data collection date.

Many thanks,

Mr. K Brehon
