Dear Parent/Guardian,
The Term Ahead
I would like offer a very warm welcome back to all our students. We anticipate some challenges from a Covid perspective this term and will continue to put in as many contingency plans as possible to try and keep our doors open to all students. As part of our commitment to maintaining improved communications with parents, we will now be sending you a letter at the start of each term outlining some of the exciting plans and opportunities we have in place for our students.
Firstly, we are very excited to launch our Student Leadership Team within the Academy. We would like to congratulate our Head Boy and Head Girl, Emmanuel and Julia, and Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl, Zewe and Husna. The Student Leadership Team will be responsible for leading our student voice within the Academy.
Years 10 and 11 will be having Building Healthy Relationships off-timetable days for which we have invited external facilitators to work with our students. We believe this is a great opportunity to enrich our students’ holistic learning in building healthy relationships.
We recognise County Lines is a very relevant issue in Coventry and beyond and are planning workshops for the whole school led by the Grace Foundation and Rights Of Passage Productions to help our students understand this issue and how to stay safe in the local and national community.
Our Year 8 Values Day is taking place this term where we will work with our students to help them fully understand the five Grace Values and how these should be put into practice in their everyday lives, following on from our Year 7 Values Day last term. We are proud that Year 7 have really committed themselves to demonstrating these values and The Grace Way.
The National Citizenship Service will be visiting our Academy to present to our Year 11 and Post 16 students about the fantastic programmes they offer for both residential programmes and enrichment activities.
Some of the many awareness events we will be focussing on this term include: World Religion Day, International Day of Women and Girls in Science, Holocaust Memorial Day, Children’s Mental Health Week, Chinese New Year, LGBTQIA+ History Month, World Cancer Day and National Apprenticeships Week, as well as continuing to develop the cultural capital and personal development of our students.
We have postponed our Year 11 Parents’ Evening due to Covid and this will now be held with the Post 16 Parents’ Evening on Wednesday 19th January. As this will be a busy evening we will finish the school day for all students at 2.40pm to allow for preparation time for these vitally important parental meetings. We look forward to inviting all parents to their respective parents’ evenings in the coming months.
Please do have a look at our website for job vacancies. We are currently looking to recruit a Site Services Officer (Caretaker), Exam Invigilators and Cover Supervisors. Alternatively, please use this link: Vacancies.
I would like to thank you all for your continuing support.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs N Whiles
Principal
