7/9/22: Year 7 Starters

We’re looking forward to opening our doors in September and introducing your child to the various members of our ‘Grace family’ and the 'Grace Way’. You will receive more detailed information from us before September but we wanted to share some updates with you now.

Pastoral Care

Your child’s Head of Year is Miss Harvey. Should you need to contact her regarding a specific query to do with your child, her email address is ellieharvey@graceacademy.org.uk. Your child’s Head of Key Stage is Mrs Wheller, who is the Vice Principal in charge of Key Stage Three (Years 7-9). Should you have any questions about the Academy or need to contact a member of the leadership team, her email address is emilywheller@graceacademy.org.uk.

Ahead of September, your child will also be allocated a Form Tutor. All the Year 7 tutors are looking forward to meeting both you and your child and introducing themselves to you. We have a “Meet the Tutor” evening on Thursday 6th October where you as Parents/Carers and your child are invited into the Academy. Further details will be shared nearer to the date.

First day arrangements

The first day for Year 7 Students will be Wednesday 7th September. Students should arrive through the main gate and then line up before entering the Academy.  Line-ups will be promptly at the following times:

Lockers

Students will be allocated a locker in the new term upon receipt of a £10.00 deposit payment. Payments can be made via our online payment system, Parentpay. Login details will be sent to you in due course.  Cash payments will not be accepted.

Uniform

All students are expected to wear uniform as detailed in our Uniform Policy.  A reminder that skirts must be knee-length pleated black skirts worn with black tights. Skirts that are non-pleated will not be permitted. In addition, black school jumpers will not be permitted inside the school building. Parents are also reminded that the only piercings permitted are a single pair of studs in the ear. All other piercings, if applicable, must be removed prior to arrival at the Academy. This includes clear inserts in piercing holes or covering piercings with a plaster, neither of which are permitted.

Extra-curricular activities and key dates

We are very pleased to inform you that extra-curricular clubs and activities will be on offer from September. Breakfast clubs, sports clubs, subject-specific clubs and academic support will all be available. Further details are to follow in September.
