Remote (online) learning

Remote Learning: Grace Academy Coventry (February 2023 update)

In light of the removal of national guidance around self-isolation and Covid restrictions (March 2022), the previously shared remote learning plan is no longer in place. We at Grace Academy remain committed to ensuring remote learning is effective and meets the needs of all students. New guidance says schools should “maintain your capacity to deliver high-quality remote education across this academic year”.

New government guidance says schools can use remote education for pupils "off with infectious illnesses" and "to ‘reintegrate’ some absent children back into school". Those decisions are made on a case-by-case basis, and the Academy's approach to online learning is as such:

  • Work will not be set for students who do not attend through general illness (including Covid).
  •  The Academy uses Google Classroom as an online platform, and recommends utilising the resources from Oak Academy (alongside our curriculum plans)
  • These are generally available at all times, and are to complement and run alongside the in-school curriculum.
  • Curriculum maps for each subject can be found on our Curriculum and Exams tab.

School Closure- Future Covid-related lockdown(s)

In the event of future unforeseen lockdown(s), teachers will set work using their subject-specific Google Classroom. Students should follow their normal timetable in this situation. This will follow the pattern that was developed during the January 2021 lockdown. Google Meet live lessons will take place for Years 10, 11, 12 and 13 to enable a more interactive lesson to enhance the learning of the students. When a live lesson is not possible, a voiceover PowerPoint and resources will be provided for students. For Years 7, 8 and 9 students will predominantly be given PowerPoints with voiceovers introducing new learning. Some lessons may run as live lessons and teachers will inform students when these will run. Work will need returning via the Google Classroom so staff members can monitor work completed and mark where appropriate.
