Careers

Grace Academy Coventry provide high quality, independent careers guidance and advice which encourages a wide range of career aspirations for our students. This journey starts in Year 7 and by Year 11 (or 13), students leave ready for the world of work or Higher Education.

Key Stage 3

Students take part in activities and experiences which enhance their understanding as they explore the world of work. Students have the opportunity to meet with Industry specialists who inform them about their particular pathways and experiences. Year 7 attend our “Careers Fair”, and Speed networking event. Year 8 complete Enterprise challenges and the “Step into NHS” Competition. Year 9 have the World Skills Show at the Birmingham NEC. All Key Stage 3 students have careers and labour market workshops with our Careers Advisor.

Key stage 3 students also take part in careers activities during their PSHE programme, supported through our Online Careers platform Unifrog. These events and opportunities encourage students to develop soft skills which are transferable across all subjects.

Key Stage 4

During Key stage 4 our Year 10 and Year 11 students take part in career enhancing opportunities and a number of employability workshops where they gain access to different industry specialists. They also receive support in creating CVs and attend mock interview workshops, take part in work experience visits with employers, and visit colleges, universities and apprenticeships providers.

All Year 11 students have impartial one to one careers advice and gain access to a comprehensive range of Post 16 options.

Post 16

With the support of Business Alliance, Year 12 and Year 13 are provided with a number of opportunities to experience the world of work, preparing them with the right skill set for life in modern Britain. The aim is to further develop transferable skills via UCAS workshop, apprenticeship and employability workshops. They also benefit from further appointments with an independent Careers adviser, visits to Universities and Careers Fairs.
