SEND
Students who require additional support at Grace Academy will initially have their needs assessed by the SEND "Nurture" Team. This will be triangulated with information from any previous education settings, the work of external agencies and the parents and carers of those young people. It is by working together in partnership that any students’ needs will be met in as inclusive an environment as possible. The SEND Nurture Team consists of the SENCo and a team of Learning Support Assistants, the Ethos team and teaching staff themselves.
The SEND Nurture team is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the SEND Policy. It coordinates the extra support and provision for students with EHCPs, diagnosis as well as the provision for students in need of SEND Support. This team offers a range of services throughout the school, covering all departments, as well as more specialised support in the Nurture Department.
Grace Academy is a school in which the learning and teaching, achievements, attitudes and well-being of every young person matter. Regardless of age, ability or disability, all students are entitled to a varied education and should be provided with the support and opportunities to enable them to become lifelong learners.
Our Aims:
The shared aim of the Learning Support Team is that every student at Grace Academy, no matter what their barrier to learning, can and will realise their potential within an inclusive community. This aim will be met by ensuring all staff are well-trained to support the differing needs of students, that we offer a proactive and reflective service and that we have a well-developed curriculum and interventions ensure all students can feel and gain success.
