Head of Sixth Form
The Head of Sixth Form is truly committed to ensuring each student is fully supported in every way. This will range from academic support to pastoral support.
Students have access to a shared area that hosts work and resources from teachers. We encourage students to download useful resources from this area to support with their learning.
Outside the Academy
The Sixth Form Team will link with outside agencies, others schools and support provisions to get the best pastoral and learning provision for our young people. We work within a federating community to broaden the curriculum we can offer students, keep up to date with educational changes and access new opportunities for our students. This year we have made links with Coventry University who support our UCAS process, carry out various workshops for Year 12 and Year 13 and offer campus use for our students. We have also had various speakers from the Student Finance Team, Health Services and Warwick University.
At Grace Academy Coventry, the Sixth Form teachers seek to work in partnership with students, and parents. A close relationship with parents is very important and necessary if the student is to succeed. Parents are welcome to contact the Academy at any time if they wish to discuss a matter of particular concern.
Grace Academy Coventry Sixth Form offers the support and encouragement that are essential to gaining success during their transition. Our personal tutors offer academic and personal support to each student during a demanding period of his or her life. As part of our UCAS support package, tutors work together with each individual student so that their application for university is ‘outstanding’.
Students have access to private study rooms and excellent group working facilities to support their learning. The study room has two stationery cupboards and 8 PCs with a colour printer. Additionally students have access to 2 classrooms to further support their study. The school is open late during the week to allow students to use the study facilities.
At Grace Academy Coventry, we provide students with a UCAS support programme. The Head of Sixth Form, in collaboration with external providers, supports students with completing applications, making sense of student finance and making the right choices with courses and universities. During these sessions students are supported in locating the best universities for their desired degree choices, receive finance support information, learn how to navigate the UCAS website and action plan personal targets to complete their applications within the best timeframe possible so they can focus on their learning. We also have outside services from Coventry University to support personal statements and the application process.
