GCSE Drama with freshly launched OCR specification. It is broken into three areas:
- Devising Drama (30% practical work internally moderated). This is when they demonstrate knowledge and understanding of how drama and theatre in developed and performed.
- Presenting and performing texts (30% practical work externally moderated). This is where students are allow to apply theatrical skills to realise artistic intentions in live performance. They also create and develop ideas to communicate meaning for theatrical performance.
- Drama: performance and response (40% in a written exam). This the opportunity to analyse and evaluate their own work and the work of others.
Attending live theatre is a crucial part of the course; not only does it inspire and motivate their learning but it is also compulsory for the final written exam.
BTEC Level 2 Tech Award Performing Arts
The current year 11 are working on their component 3 – Performing to a Brief of the BTEC Level 2 Tech Award in Performing Arts. This component is externally assessed in May or June. The student have already completed:
