OCR’s Computer Science GCSE allows students to work with a range of technologies and to develop digital literacy. They will learn up-to-date skills and gain a greater knowledge and understanding of a rapidly developing digital world.

This exciting GCSE gives you an excellent opportunity to investigate how computers work and how they’re used, and to develop computer programming and problem-solving skills. You’ll also do some fascinating in-depth research and practical work.

The specification is composed of four units. Two are studied in Year 10 and the other two in Year 11.  Two of the units comprise of a controlled assessment unit where students use appropriate software to solve a practical solution, and the other two are assessed by external examination.

Students will be engaged by aspects of their life that they can relate to in their everyday lives, such as uses of the internet and by their own experiences of using digital devices.
