Year 6 Transition

Dear Parents/Carers of Year 6 Students,

Transition Update and Welcome

I hope this letter find you well and I would like to extend a warm welcome to you, your child, and your family to our Academy.

We know that the period of transition from primary to secondary school can be a little anxious and that in the current climate this may even more so for some students and parents.  I want to reassure you that although we are currently operating in a national lockdown we have been working hard behind the scenes on our transition process in order to make it as smooth as possible for you and your child.

Attached you will find an introduction to the Academy via our prospectus.  I would like to encourage you to read this with your child and discuss with them any questions they may have, what they are looking forward to, and what may be making them nervous.

Contained within the prospectus are the key forms that require completion ahead of your start in September. These consist of:

  • Student Admission Form
  • Medical Questionnaire
  • Consent to Administer Medication Form
  • GDPR Consent
  • Data Collection & Sharing Information Consent Form
  • GDPR Data Collection
  • Biometric Catering Consent Form
  • The Grace Academy Pledge
  • ICT Acceptable Use Policy

Please complete and return these to us by June 30th 2021

Over the coming months you will receive further communication from us and opportunities to meet the team.  Such communication will be organised in accordance with any guidance given by the government regarding the pandemic and restrictions.  However, regardless of what the national picture is, we are committed to providing a positive transition process for your child.  Some of the transition events (whether virtual or in person) that we expect to be able to engage you in are as follows:

  • Parent information sessions
  • Transition FAQs Booklet
  • Transition area on the Grace Academy website
  • Transition Day
  • Meet the Tutor
  • Transition Project
  • Tour of the Academy

Transition day this year will take place on 7th July. Due to the ongoing situation regarding Covid-19, we are as of yet unsure whether this will be virtual or whether we will be able to welcome students on to site. We will keep you informed of this and all such events on an ongoing basis.

We look forward to meeting you and your child soon.

In the meantime, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Mrs A Cooper our Assistant Principal ( overseeing transition.

Stay safe and see you soon.

Kind regards,

Ms Taylor
